Assoc. Prof. Alon Grinberg Dana Takes Chemical Engineering into the AI Era
Assoc. Prof. Alon Grinberg Dana of the Wolfson Faculty of Chemical Engineering will take a prominent role in the Technion’s AI Days, leading a series of workshops and participating in a research session focused on the growing role of artificial intelligence in learning, research, and advanced academic workflows.
As part of the program, Grinberg Dana will lead two AI Fluency workshops, an advanced session exploring AI capabilities, autonomous agents, and sophisticated workflows, and will participate in a Technion-wide session dedicated to the integration of AI in research.
During the research session, he will present “Pioneering the ‘AI Scientist’ at the Technion: A Dual-Lane Agentic Architecture for Autonomous Discovery in Reactive Chemical Systems,” highlighting new approaches that combine artificial intelligence with experimental research to advance autonomous scientific discovery.
Grinberg Dana’s research lies at the intersection of chemical engineering, software engineering, and quantum chemistry. His group develops open-source, AI-driven tools for predicting the behavior of real-world reactive systems, with the goal of accelerating chemical research and development through the integration of computational models and autonomous wet-lab validation.
The group’s research addresses challenges in sustainable fuels and energy, polymers, pharmaceuticals, and biochemistry, demonstrating how AI and computational approaches are becoming an increasingly important part of the chemical engineer’s toolbox.
For the Wolfson Faculty of Chemical Engineering, Alon’s extensive participation in the Technion’s AI Days is both a source of pride and a compelling example of where the field is heading: toward a new generation of chemical engineering that brings together scientific understanding, experimentation, computation, and intelligent autonomous systems.
We are proud to have Alon as part of our faculty and to see his work helping shape the future of chemical engineering.
